The composer Albert Coates, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in San Pietroburgo on the 23th April 1882, the same year of the composers Abranyi (Ábrányi), Atanasov, Bergh, Bimboni, Bingham, Braunfels, Daffner, Farmer, Gnesin, Hageman, Kodály, Konjovic, Kricka, Kálmán, Laliberté, Lattuada, Lendvay, Lyford, Malipiero, Marinuzzi, Nef, Nerini, O'Hara, Pick-Mangiagalli, Powell, Radó, Safranek-Kavic, Saminsky, Stravinsky, Szymanowski, Turina y Perez. He died in Cape Town on the 11th December 1953
