Robert Ruthenfranz, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Witten on the third September 1905, the same year of the composers Adomián, Arapov, Bartos, Blazek, Blitzstein, Bozza, Brusilovsky, Dankevich, Darnton, Defossez, Farkas, Garrido, Gundry, Halffter (Escriche), Hartmann, Holewa, Hughes, Jolivet, Kenessey, Kosma, Kozlovsky, Kreuder, Landré, Leigh, Maes, Meyer, Michaelides, Müller, Pizzini, Rubin, Sandi, Seiber, Sternefeld, Tippett, Tubin. He died in Witten on the 29th November 1970
