The musician Leon van Gheluwe, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Wanneghem-Lede on the 15th September 1837, the same year of the composers Aceves y Lozano, Chukhadjian, Diaz (de la Peña), Dubois, Ferrari, Grisart, Guiraud, Holmes, Jensen, Levey, Molloy, Sommer, Sonnenfeld.
