The composer Freiherr Hugo Franz Karl Alexander von Kerpen, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Engers on the 27th March 1749, the same year of the composers Cimarosa, Edelmann, Malzat, Navoigille, Saint-Amans, Schubaur, Turini, Urbani. He died in Heilbronn on the 31th December 1802
