(Jakab) Gyula (Julius) Major (Mayer) was a author of vocal and instrumental music; was born in Kosice on the 13rd December 1858, the same year of the composers Barkworth, Berson, Chapuis, De Lara, Elling, Erb, Fauchey, Ferroni, Hubay, Huë, Kazachenko, Klein, Krug, Lambert, Landini, Löhse, Maunder, Mugnone, Müller-Reuter, Nicolau, Ochs, Puccini, Shelley, Smyth, Tirindelli, Trnecek. He died in Budapest on the 30th Jenuary 1925
