Willem Frans Thooft, who wrote music for orchestra, chamber and vocal music, was born in Amsterdam on the 10th July 1829, the same year of the composers Acton, Bertini, Braga, Dietrich, Gottschalk, Hartog, Ipavec, Ivry, Karrer, Lazare, Millard, Pinsuti, Roberti, Rogel, Rubinstein, Stiehl, Thomas. Died in Rotterdam on the 27th August 1900
