The composer William Beatton Moonie was born in Stobo on the 29th May 1883, the same year of the composers Allen, Bartels, Bastianelli, Bath, Bossi, Casella, Davison, Doelle, Hauer, Hernried, Hrimalý, Infante, Jacobi, Kalomiris, Kartsev, Klenau, Krein, Kunc, Lhotka, Lloyd, Luncani, Lévy, Mandic, Manén, Perrachio, Pringsheim, Refice, Samuel, Santoliquido, Toselli. He died in Edinburgh on the 8th December 1961
